A Poem: A Butterfly Is Trapped Within The Chambers Of My Heart

64

By Gabriel Wilson

A butterfly is trapped

within the chambers of my heart.

Wings smooth as silk

softly beat together

softly apart.

I feel the silent flutter

deep inside my breast.

Delicate beauty, within

the crimson of my chest.

A fragile butterfly

dwells inside my heart.

Her gossamer wings

so gentle

fine fabric, to my flesh.

I wish to release her

to the wonders of the world.

Crystal dew drops

silver webs

sun kissed petals

earthy beds.

The blue of the sky

cotton clouds

amber rays

colourful rainbows

warm summer days.

Her beautiful wings

are growing weary

of constant flight.

Her tiny body tired

trapped in chambers

soulless light.

I must soon set her free

or she will surely die!

Loneliness will find her

and never let her be.

Her zest for life

will ebb away

drain her body cold.

I will know

her sweet soft wings

will seize to beat.

My dainty butterfly.

To never feel the flutter

deep within my chest,

the melody,

of gentle wings

seems too cruel a quest.

To sacrifice a gentle touch

a sweet, sweet caress.

Knowing this

I let her go

my beautiful butterfly.

Surrendered

to the world outside

freedom of the sky.

Elegance and poise

you dance.

My heart is empty.

I have lost the beat of life.

Engulfed in sweet despair.

Sadness creeps through my veins,

a poison in my blood

tainting all I feel.

I cry a silent tear.

What of my heart!

without a beat

My darling butterfly...

The butterfly symbol...

The butterfly in this poem is a symbol for love.

We all have butterflies at some point in our lives. However sometimes our butterflies will not survive and it best to set them free.

The purest of love without any expectation is the best environment for our butterfly to thrive.

Only a true heart can keep a butterfly in all it's wonder and glory.
